A Humor Quickie

Normally, Martha sheds her work shoes as soon as she gets home from, er, work. Last night, she didn't. She was hurrying around the kitchen on clunky one-inch heels, and this is what it sounded like, heels against tile:

Clunk, clunk clunk, clunk, turn, clunk clunk clunk, turn back, clunk clunk clunk, clunk, clunk clunk . . .

"You sound like one of those Spanish dancers," I told her. "What's the name of that dance? I can't remember offhand."

"The Flamingo?" she said.

"Flamenco!" I cried triumphantly. And then I started to laugh. And she started to laugh. The Flamingo, for cripes sake.

I think, for St. Valentine's Day, I'll sign her up for Flamingo dance lessons. Who knows—maybe they'll teach her the tangle and the sambo too.

Thanks, Charlie. I meant to do that myself, but I've never tested my html skills on this cranky site, which refused to let me post as me THREE TIMES, even though I was fully signed in.

I do like Flamingo. That's what it would look like if I did it. Similarly the Tanko and FauxTrots. I can Walls though, in a pinch.

LINDA: That's not whining, complaining, and moaning I detect, is it?

TUI: You're a dancer after my own heart. The FauxTrots—that's a good one.

i don't think flamingos dance as much as do lazy yoga.

And don't forget the schmaltz, Charlie -- no finer dance than that one.

In the supermarket today I overheard someone in the tea & coffee aisle say to their partner, "I think I'll try one of those C'al pacinos..."

Hmmm... wasn't that the guy who danced the flamingo in "Scent of a Woman"?

When I worked in the dairy farm we used to dance in the old fashioned whey!

For valentines day get her a set of plastic flamingos for the front lawn. (if you have a lawn) They say love in oh so many ways.

This is funny, I need to make sure my hubby reads this. This is the kind of humor we share in our little hippie house. Loving yet funny.

The area of Winnipeg that I live in (Transcona) is famous for flamingos on people's front lawns. Seriously! It's a local tradition! No idea how it go started, but it's part of the area's history now.

Reading all these comments and the play on words had me laughing and groaning at the same time!

Martha must be a tough girl. The idea of keeping clacking shoes on a second longer than necessary has me goggling. I trust you massage her tootsies regularly:)
