Kim Ayres, Portrait Photographer

My long-time friend Kim Ayres is having an exhibition of twenty-four photographs in May, and this is the poster he designed for it. Kim is good at a lot of things, but I think his photography is spectacular. These are more than just portraits; they are windows into human souls. Every time I see a photo like the one above in black & white, I am reminded of the great Diane Arbus.

So where, exactly, is the venue Mill on the Fleet? In southwest Scotland, which may make it difficult for some of you to attend. But with nearly 150 readers of this blog, I would be remiss if I didn't showcase the exhibit.

The photographs are under wraps right now, but here is the link to Kim Ayres Portrait Photography web site. Take some time looking through the galleries.

The best of luck, Kim, and may you sell them all.

Are you going to be mad if I write - He has an eye for it.
Really that striking picture draws you to his eye.
Don't think I'll make it but I just read about the Apple guy who left a secret new Iphone at a bar was offered a free trip by Lufthansa to have a beer in Munich.
send me some tickets I'll go.

Mill on the Street is sadly nowhere near Mill on the Floss. But I shall admire from afar and wander to the website. Hope all well.

Thanks Charlie, both for the promotion and the praise :)

It's the Mill on the Fleet, by the way, but after such a stunning write up, I won't complain.

Not as bad as the local paper who accepted the press release for yesterday's edition and managed to both spell my name wrong and refer to me as "she" throughout...

@Kim Spectacular portraits. Did you do your own, that is, the one we see on your posts?

KIM: I fixed my error—now how about your local rag?

I offered to send an e-mail to the "reporter" who doesn't understand "Who, What, When, Where and Why".

I also threatened to ask for directions from America...and what she'd done with the handsome bearded photographer. :)

Nicely done Charlie!

I am long overdue for a trip to Scotland and if Kim's photography does not convince me it is time to finally pack my bags, then only the fact of an empty wallet will.

Amazing work, Kim! And thanks for telling us about it, Charlie.

Thanks for all the kind words appearing in the comments here.

laytonwoman3rd - yes I did the one for my avatar - it's supposed to be a bit of silliness, mocking the "serious author" style photo
