A Double Dose of Love

'Tis Monday morning, and that means it's time for Romance. Capital "R", because I'm a hopeless Romantic.

This video is from Celtic Thunder's first show in 2007. If the lad looks young, he is. His name is Damian McGinty, he's from Derry, Northern Ireland, and he was 14 when this was recorded. The song was written by Paul Anka (from Ottawa, Ontario) in 1960, when I was 13. Fifty years later, I still love it.

And who doesn't remember this song ("Beautiful Night") from Disney's Lady and the Tramp? Okay, so they're only animated dogs. But they're in love, and that's what counts. I especially like the ending scene as they look at the moon and stars . . .

By the way, it isn't only Monday mornings that are time for Romance. It's time every day, morning, noon and night, whenever you feel it in your heart.

one of my favorite disney moments and the lullaby i often sing to my girls. that is a very pleasant way to start the week. will try not to think about it going downhill from here.

I remember seeing Lady and the Tramp as a kid. At the time, I couldn't get past my being aghast that dogs were eating spaghetti. I guess my "romance" gene hadn't kicked in yet.

That's the best version I've heard of 'Puppy Love'. Good old Paul Anka!
I like romantics - I'm married to one and it's lovely.

Every year for Valentine's Day I cook my senior citizens a spaghetti lunch. One of them finally asked me why I picked that. Before I could answer, one of the men looked at me, winked and said, "Haven't you ever seen 'Lady & The Tramp'?"

Busted! :)

Here's a big hug for you!

What a lovely and strange juxtaposition of videos! I like a mind that works slightly askew.

Hey Charlie,

That kid could sing good. I love Lady and Tramp. My poor doggie lost his girlfriend! My doggie is a cocker spaniel whoes three years old. Our neighbor had an eleven year old Dobe and she got cancer and had to be put down. Conan (my doggie) ever since he was a puppy would wait at night to see Jada (his girlfriend's) light to come on by her back porch and then he bark to go outside. Jada would be waiting for him by the stairs and they would play. Now little Conan waits for her light, but it doesn't come on. I guess every species knows love and loss. Thanks for the Romance from one Hopless Romantic to another,
Hugs,
Amanda

After being mostly out of touch with my interwebs for the last week, this post was one of the first things I checked out this morning, and it gave me such a lift I don't even mind going back to work today! Thanks for the bright spot on what will be my Monday morning this week.
