I Don't Do Religion

I don't do religion because it's even more of a tetchy subject than politics—and I don't wish to commit blog hara-kiri.

But not all bloggers are selfish pantywaists like I am. Some actually step up to the plate when they feel strongly about a religious issue. Like Hope, who after much disclaiming, boldly posted her opinion because she was (and is) angry.

There is nothing in my Book of Selfishness that precludes me from pointing to Hope's essay, and I urge you to read it.

For the record, I'll climb out on a limb and tell you that I agree with Hope 100%.

Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted of Phoenix, Arizona, the same state that gave us a brand-new "immigration law" a few weeks ago. I sure do know a lot about choosing places to live.

Well Charlie, I don't do religion either... but you motivated me to updated a post I have been working on. I'm "out" now!

KARA: Probably tough to wear in a car, unless it's a convertible. And then you need to wear a rubber band under your chin to keep it from blowing away.

ROBERT: I knew you'd tackle it sooner or later. Your last political post sparked actual discussions!

I don't think some things are just about religion. They are so about control. I read the post you linked to and it was refreshing to read a well written post about such ignorant man made rules and punishments.

Funny anecdote: the MITM went to Italy for business and while there, he did the tourist thing and went to rome. I had jokinly asked him to , "get me a Pope hat!" Long story short, he tried and almost got arrested! Yep, he went into a vestments shop, asked for a Pope's hat and the store owner threatened to call the cops unless he apologized and left immediately! xoxoxox

Thanks Charlie...I don't usually get so bent out of shape but that story did it!

Don't know if you re-visited me but I offered this about my "disclaimer": Let's just say it was a "preemptive strike" on my part so I didn't have to later point out what-hope-believes. :)

Wasn't so much self defense as I was too angry, and weary, to come back and prop up the WHY of my feelings. Besides, I'm never going to be P.C. ;)

Have a great weekend friend!

I will debate politics, religion and board games with anyone who wishes, so long as it is face to face and they are not holding any weapons.

I too agree with Hope 100%. New here -- and appreciate the link.

Long Live The God!

@Sav, you want a Pope hat? What size? I make them when I'm not singing! :¬)

Margaret McBride understood what is good and right; the priests didn't. So, what's new?

Charlie: Did you ever have to kiss the bishop's ring? 500 little girls, one after the other, bowing to kiss the gem on his fat finger.

BABE: The sad thing is, millions of people blindly follow these man-made rules.

SAVANNAH: Some people have no sense of humor. Does the MITM look good in red? If so, he might have tried for a Cardinal's hat (not the baseball team's).

HOPE: Thank you again for your post, and the comment you left. And to hell with PC.

KIM: I never debate board games, regardless of weapons. I merely dislike arguments, chaos, and mayhem.

JERRY: The one thing we got out of this post, other than Hope's excellent piece, is a new blog friendship.

MAP: I could swear that saying applied to Caesar, but since I don't swear any longer you're probably correct.

Savannah may be thrilled to hear about your hat-making. You are a man of many talents.

FRANCES: I sure do remember kissing the bishop's ring, and bowing to do it.

Sickening, when you think about it, but thank you anyway for the memory.

kara: Totally. Totally *does an online search for a convertible car hat*

charlie: I don't do religion either. Can we get a sticker for that?

I'm Not Actually Commenting Comment: Ever notice churches going on about molestation, about gay rights, about female pastors, about Rowe v wade stuff....? ALL sexual.

What about OPEC makin' a killing(in both sense$)? Global starvation statistics? Black mambas attacking villagers in Australia? those are the issues pastors should be concerning their peeps with, while giving them a sermon on Birth Control.

Thanks for the link, Charlie. I'm adding Hope's blog to my dashboard. I admire anyone who can express outrage so lucidly.

I've just visited Hope's site and read about Sister Margaret. It was enough to make steam come out of my ears, reading about this.

It's sad the things people do in the name of religion. I fully agree with Hope. Thanks for sharing that.

SAMM: Thank you for your non-comment opinion.

LINDA: Hope works with senior citizens and is taking care of her elderly aunt—she's a great blogger.

MARY: Precisely why I linked to it: I think a lot of people had steamy ears.

MEG: Amen, sister, and You're welcome.
