To commemorate yesterday's MP election in the United Kingdom, I present one of the best spoofs of politicians of all time (IMO). It's from the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas", and this clip features Charles Durning, one of filmdom's great American actors, as the Governor. The reference to the "Chicken Ranch" is the name of the whorehouse, and "Mona" is the Madam, played by Dolly Parton.

Typical politician... lots of hot air and no substance.
It reminds me of something Dick Cheney once said; you don't answer the question you were asked, you answer the question you WANTED them to ask.
Though I wonder what the makeup of our Congress would be if we required all politicians running for office to be able to sing and/or dance? Hmmm, maybe not go there.
Bless yer pea-pickin' hawrt fer posting thet, Charlie.
Politicians. They do enough dancing away from the truth. I always appreciate your posts.
Too true. And what a state we're in now. A very big whorehouse indeed.
I imagine there will be quite a bit of dancing, shuffling and twisting in Britain in the next few days and weeks - if only they'd burst into song once in a while.....
Lovely spoof! Now if we cold just get Gordon singin' and dancin'...
How about that side step dance in the car - politics to the core.
Thanks, Charlie. I enjoyed watching this.
Hey Charlie,
I am going to read your two latest posts later. Right now I am writing you because I gave you the passionate blogger's award. You can copy the picture from my blog and put it on yours. Also you are allowed to award it to five other deserving bloggers if you so wish.
Thanks my blog buddy who is passionate,
Amanda
Hmmm, if we made all politicians sing to pass legislation instead of that side stepping dance they do, maybe we'd get better laws.
Or at least better laughs. Thanks for this one!
Hah! I don't know how to post a clip, Charlie, but imagine Big Daddy in "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof" growling, "There's a powerful odour of mendacity in this room!" in response. hehe
