Bad News Good News

The bad news first. Attila the Mom, my long-time blog and reality friend, has to put her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Molly, to sleep in the next day or two.

Putting a beloved pet down, a full-fledged member of the family, is one of the hardest and most horrible things life throws at us. I feel so badly for Attila and her family—if you get a chance, drop by her place and offer a word or two of comfort.

Molly went to Dog Heaven yesterday, Nov. 24, 2010. I sure hope she's met my beloved Punkers because they'll make great pals.

The good news is that Philip Dodge and his blog, The Domesticated Bohemian, is this week's Blog of Note. Raised in Yorkshire, Philip now lives near London, a city which surprised him when he saw that "it has streetlights and everything!"

Don't let that bit of yokel fool you. Philip is a fine writer and deserves the recognition of his Blogaritaville peers. Check him out.

I now have the honor of knowing two Bloggers of Note: Philip and Kim Ayres, who still has over 900 followers. Pretty neat, huh.

Helping our dear pets leave life is truly one of the hardest things. I feel bad for anyone who doesn't understand.
Love you, Charlie

My heart goes out to Attila and her family. It's the hardest and most heartbreaking task in the world.

putting a pet to rest is very tough and I've done it more than once. I get through it by knowing that it lessens the pet's suffering.
thanks for the blogger recommendation - I'm on my way over there.

Thanks for balancing sad with happy! Our oldest dog gave us a scare recently and although I know he's 12.5 years old, the kid in me hopes he'll live for several more years even if the adult in me knows the odds. But I let the dog believe the kid is right. :)

Hope you're feeling better. Have a Happy Turkey Day!

That is one of the hardest things to do, you are so right, Charlie. Feel for AtheM. 3 dogs in my adult life and one very old cat (cars got the other 2). It never gets easier.

I will check out Philip's blog post. Thanks.
xoxo

We never forget our dear Jock and Havoc romping away in Pet's Heaven.
I shall visit both blogs and not be in the least prejudiced against the Yorkshire man - being Lancastrian:)

So sorry to hear about Atilla the Mom & Molly...It's so devastating...I'll be hugging Juno a little more closer tonight - though she's pretty much plastered herself to me anyway because of the cold.

A plastered cat? Better cut back on the hot toddys.

Thanks so much for the shout, my friend. It was a sad day yesterday. Even our vet---who has doctored all of our dogs from puppyhood---wept with us. At least she's not suffering.

Hope you and Martha have a great holiday!

I'm so sorry, Mom, for you and the entire family.

Hi Charlie, just trying to catch up on my blog reading - never seem to keep on top of it.. it was nice to find your comments here about Philip. Of course I agree - but then I'm biased.

Charlie - thanks for the nice comments. i was pretty pleased too. Seeing my picture there was a bit scary. Sorry it took so long for me to get round to commenting. I've spent an enormous amount of time replying to comments and visiting new blogs.

Anyway Charlie - you're the prof. I'm just a pupil. I'm not from yorkshire either, but I'll forgive you for that.
Best wishes
Philip

Thanks, Philip, for forgiving my Yorkshire gaff. Maybe it had something to do with all of you English blokes looking alike.
