She's 5!

That's right, this little slip of a thing is 5, as in five-years-old. 60 months, the time it takes most people to pay off their cars. The digit following 4 and preceding 6 (someone check me on that).

So what's so special about this tyke? She can sing. I mean, she can SING. She struggles with parts of The World's Hardest Song Ever Written, but give her a break—she's only 5. The kid has the pipes, no question.

Boy, I'll bet her kindergarten teacher dropped a load when he or she heard the wee one belt out "Mary Had a Little Lamb."

Take a listen.

What's that you ask? Can I sing? I couldn't carry a tune in an iPod, so watch the video again.

That little darlin' sang that song better than anyone I've heard lately.  Sheesh!  Thanks so much for sharing this.

I have no idea who she is, Jan. One of Martha's co-workers sent the video from New Jersey this a.m., and Martha passed it on to me. I don't think it's from YouTube, though.

Of course she's getting training—watch her hand movements—but she has the basic "it."

I agree, of course, but I hope she is given time to be just a little girl too.

Were you singing when you were 5?

Great!

(And now I know I would've been a has-been by age 6 according to this tyke!)

But you made me smile and I thank you.  :)

When it comes to singing, I was a has-been before I even got started.

You're welcome for the smile—I wish I could give you one every day.

Probably. Ma was (still is!) a wonderful singer, as is my older brother, and my Granduncle Keane was always about with his accordian, so I reckon I was!  :¬)

HOLY SMOKES!  She is scary good!  And so composed.   Thanks for this, Charlie, made my day.

HOLY SMOKES—a zombie barbeque down at the rectory?

If that little girl doesn't have a Broadway voice, then no one has. A revival of Annie when she's a couple years older?

Thank goodness talent is still being dished out. Music and much more can be faked but singing is good or not. This little girl has so much talent and I hope she has a good life and guidance to use her voice while she keeps her priorities straight.

good find charlie -  so much power for a 5 yr old.  Standing up at a stadium to listen to her salute the country would be awesome.

Hey charlie I went looking to find more on this great singer.
Her story is even more touching and interesting than her singing the National Anthem

Watch the video of her below lisleman's second comment. She's eight now, sings gospel, and credits God for passing her mother's voice to her. Sounds like she has it together.

Thanks so much l-man for finding out more about this beautiful little girl—and, of course, the video. You're a great YouTube researcher.

Finding out more made me feel good.  Such a story.  I've already shared it with my family and plan to post something about soon.  You get the credit for introducing it to me.

Good grief, I thought you had to have enormous lungs to be able to sing like that. I hope she's allowed to be a little girl too.
