Map Stewart, Troubadour

Michael Anthony Patrick Stewart

This is my friend Map, who lives in Limerick, Ireland.

He's a lucky bastard: He has a beautiful wife, Annette, and three equally beautiful daughters. He sings for a living, mostly at weddings (there's no shortage of those in Ireland), but I think of him more as a modern-day troubadour.

You'll understand why when you listen to this song—to him a work-in-progress, a fooling around at home with a computer, software and a mixing board, but to me an accomplished ballad of yore.

Ah, serenaded courtesy of TWO gentlemen. How lucky can a girl get? :)

You seem to attract cool people, Charlie.

Lovely music and singing. I agree with you that he is lucky to be able to sing for a living. I watch my hubby work with his computer and all the boxes with knobs and speakers and guitars and I enjoy every bit of it. I am sure Map's wife and daughters feel the same way.

That is beautiful - just beautiful. Aren't you the lucky one?

Great singer, but he needs a better photo...

Serenaded by our own silken-voiced Map! It's so lovely to be able to hear him sing... and how cool that he dedicated this tune to you, Charlie. I love the friends I've made here in bloggerland. *sighs happily*

'Tis a good thing you have only four cheeks—otherwise you'd look like an Irish lobster. Or did St. Pat drive all the lobsters out of Ireland—I forget.

Take the praise where you can find it, friend, and be proud of it. You are liked by a lot of people . . .

Yes, yes I do, And you're one of 'em.

I agree, Kim. I mention that he lives in Ireland, and there he stands smiling like the Cheshire cat with the Eiffel Tower sprouting out of his head.

BTW. I'm halfway through reading your Wigtown blog. When I'm finished I'll leave a consolidated comment.

You're welcome, and thanks for stopping by the University.

Thank you for stopping by to listen.

Oh, it's lovely altogether, so it is. Thank you Charlie Callahan, and thank you Map. Blessings on you both.

I agree, Babe. Personally, I can't carry a tune in an iPod, and "all the boxes with knobs" confuse the hell out of me. It's pretty nice, then, to know some people who know what they're doing and just listen.

Charlie Callahan said...

Yes, indeed.

I'd be pretty lost without the people on my sidebar (plus another dozen or so). That's why I keep plugging on: I may be slow, but at least I'm slow.

And P., I love having you as a friend, even if I'm slow **blush**

I'll say it one more time: Linda, you're a peach.

Here's a little-known secret. Both Map and I are lucky to have you.

Oh, this song has so many associations for me - it was sung at all the family events and celebrations I went to throughout my first marriage. My kids all know every word and love it dearly. And this was a very fine rendition. Thank you for sharing.

OMG, I passed right by you, Sav! Chalk it up to my lousy computer eyesight as an oversight.

And thanks for the deliciousness—I can use all I can get.

I'm so glad you enjoyed listening to Map and the good memories his singing stirred up.

Oh my goodness, he's wonderful! Thank you for sharing your talented friend with us!

That's high praise, coming from a music guru. How about sponsoring a tour through Canada—or, at the very least, your house?
